Last week, Micron hosted over 260 senior representatives from the most influential suppliers for the memory and storage industry during our 2022 Supplier Day.
Micron is poised for a new era of leadership, fueled by the long-term demand for memory and storage from an expanding ecosystem of end market applications. We are well-positioned to realize the opportunities in our markets, and we have aggressive plans to invest in our growth with leading technologies, a world-class supply chain, and a deep portfolio of innovative products.
But we can’t realize our journey of growth alone. Our valued suppliers play a critical role in partnering with Micron to address this increasing worldwide demand for memory and storage – and doing so in a way that enriches life for all.
Our Supplier Day was all about forging stronger relationships and deeper collaboration with our key partners. During the event, Micron executive leadership outlined the opportunities ahead with memory and storage at the center of the data economy and our path to maintain technology, operational and product leadership, supported by a rock-solid financial balance sheet.
Micron recently announced a bold new investment in leading-edge DRAM fabs in Boise and Central New York, and we discussed how our operational leadership will deploy new technologies into production and deliver the capacity needs of the future. Our suppliers are critical partners to both building and bringing these new cutting-edge memory fabs into production.
The last few years have further highlighted the need for a resilient supply chain, resilient communities, and a resilient planet. Our industry is resource-intensive, requiring large amounts of energy, water and chemicals. With some of the largest companies in the semiconductor industry in attendance, our Supplier Day was also an opportunity to reinforce our collective duty to make commitments and business decisions that positively enrich life for people and our planet.
Increasing our spend with diverse suppliers is one of Micron’s six DEI (diversity, equality and inclusion) commitments. Micron continues to make significant progress in this area, and we look forward to our suppliers setting up their own supplier diversity programs or enhancing their existing programs.
We also recognized the best-in-class performance of our top suppliers through our Micron Supplier Awards. Performance was measured through our annual supplier evaluation process, and the resulting awards spotlight integral contributions in a year of considerable supply chain challenges in our industry. Congratulations once again to our award recipients.
As we build the future of memory together, Micron is excited to take our supplier partnerships to the next level. As our President and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra likes to say, “The best is yet to come.”
